What drives the price of tattoo removal
The primary factor is the size of the treated area — this determines the length of the session and its intensity. But size is a starting point, not the whole picture. Two tattoos of the same size may require a different number of sessions and a different level of effort if one is a thin outline and the other is densely, solidly filled.
That is why a final quote always requires a visual assessment of the tattoo. On our pricing page you will find current per-session rates; an accurate estimate of the full course of treatment is discussed at a free consultation.
Small tattoo — up to 5×5 cm
This category includes single letters, small symbols and thin wrist bands. Sessions are short, less energy is used, and the number of repetitions required is usually the lowest. This makes the total course cost the lowest of all categories.
Note: a small tattoo is not always straightforward. A small design densely filled with several colours may require more sessions than a large black outline. Size is the first coordinate of pricing — colour and density are the next.
Medium tattoo — 5–15 cm
Palm-sized designs, forearm-width patterns, medium tattoos on the shoulder blade or hip. This is the most common size range and the standard reference point for pricing. A session takes more time, and the number of repetitions depends on the specifics of the design.
A typical black-and-grey tattoo in this size range, without a cover-up, usually gives a clear estimate: from the number of sessions to the total cost of treatment.
Large tattoo and sleeve
Designs covering the back, a half-sleeve, a full sleeve, large chest pieces. Sessions are longer and require careful planning — large areas are not always treated in their entirety in one go, to avoid overloading the skin and immune system.
With large tattoos, the price is most often discussed as a course plan, not as a per-session rate multiplied by the number of repetitions. A sleeve involves a different level of work than a wrist tattoo — even if both require the same number of sessions.
An accurate quote for a sleeve or back piece requires a meeting. Book a free consultation and we will plan the course together.
Beyond size: what else affects the price
Several factors can change the quote even at the same size:
- Colour: black ink responds best to a picosecond laser. Colours such as green, blue and yellow may require different wavelengths and more sessions — which lengthens and increases the cost of the treatment course.
- Density: solid fill versus outline only is a completely different level of effort. Filled ink means more material to break down.
- Cover-up: a tattoo covering a previous design has multiple layers of pigment. Each requires separate sessions.
- Location on the body: areas with good blood supply (torso, thighs) heal faster and respond better. Hands and feet — more slowly.
That is why a quote over the phone or online — without seeing the tattoo — is unreliable and usually inaccurate. We cover more on what affects the final outcome in our guide on tattoo removal cost in Warsaw.
