Many people want a tattoo not to show on the dress, in the suit and in the wedding photos. That's realistic — provided you start early enough. Tattoo removal is a process spread over more than a year, so here the maths of time matters most. Below we explain how many months ahead to start and what to do when there's less time.

Frequently asked questions

How many months before the wedding should I start tattoo removal?+
For full removal it's best to start 12–18 months ahead. That's usually 8–12 sessions every roughly 8 weeks, plus a buffer for healing and any rescheduling.
What if only a few months are left before the wedding?+
Full removal is unlikely, but a realistic goal is significant fading, which makes the tattoo easy to cover with foundation or the outfit in photos.
Can I have the last session just before the wedding?+
Better not to. After treatment the skin can be reddened and needs time to heal. Schedule the last session so there are a few weeks before the date for the skin to settle.
Will the tattoo disappear completely for the wedding photos?+
With an early enough start full removal is realistic, but the result depends on the colour, age and depth of the tattoo. We set the specific plan at the consultation.
Is fading enough to hide the tattoo?+
Often yes. A faded tattoo is much easier to mask with makeup or the cut of the outfit than a fresh one, and fading needs fewer sessions than full removal.
